Mason Jar Air Freshener
Forget about spraying the rooms in your house every half hour. These do-it-yourself air fresheners are much more attractive and effective as well! We used lemons for ours, but feel free to mix it up with limes or oranges.
What You’ll Need:
- Mason jar
- Lemons, 2 (sliced)
- Fresh rosemary, 2 stalks
- Vanilla, 1 t
- Water, to fill mason jar
Directions:
- In a saucepan, add the water, the lemons, the rosemary, and the vanilla. Bring to a boil; cover and simmer 10 minutes.
- Turn off the burner, allow the mixture to cool, and pour infused water into the mason jar. Note: to preserve the scent for longer, place the lid on the mason jar when you leave the room.
Mason Jar Candles
So pretty and so sweet; these mason jar candles will bring warmth to your home in more ways than one!
What You’ll Need:
- Soy wax flakes, 1 (1 lb.) package
- Dye, in color of choice
- Scented oil (peppermint, lavender, etc.)
- Wicks
- Mason jar
- Bamboo skewers or toothpicks
Directions:
- Place a medium-sized sauce pan in a large deep skillet; fill the skillet with water and heat on medium-high. In the sauce pan, melt the soy wax flakes.
- Remove the wax; place in large mixing bowl. Add ½ block of dye and stir until dissolved. Allow wax to cool.
- Add a few drops of scented oil, stir.
- Wrap wicks around bamboo skewer or toothpicks; hang wicks inside mason jar to position them upright.
- Pour in wax (a funnel helps with this.) Allow wax to dry.
Make-Your-Own Gift Jar
Who doesn’t love getting a gift box? Put a new spin on things with a mason jar full of goodies for your friend or family member!
What You’ll Need:
- Mason jar
- Trial-sized goodies (such as bathroom essentials, cooking tools, or art supplies)
- Ribbon or lace
Directions:
- Simply arrange the goodies in the mason jar (you may have to experiment with just the right organizational set-up to fit everything.)
- Wrap ribbon or lace around the mason jar for an elegant touch. Put on the lid and you’re done!

- Glow sticks (in any color)
- Mason jar
Directions:
- Cut off the end of the glow sticks; pour contents into the mason jar.
